since fitting glow plugs the white smoke has gone when first started.

now when first started it puts out blue smoke, once warmed up this clears, dont see any blue smoke unless the revs are held at 1500 rpm then it builds up quick into a small cloud, while holding the revs at 1500 its also had a slight misfire.. once revs rise blue smoke clears, if i was to rev it hard, wouldnt see blue smoke, only see it when revs are held at 1500 and idle when first started

this thread is my last throw of the dice, am trying to avoid taking it to a garage

so far its had

air filter

oil filter

oil

fuel filter

cleaned sedimentor

tank sender

changed glow plugs only one out four were working, the inside of one came away from glow plug housing when trying to remove

ive tryed some injector cleaner, a few bottles now lol, hasnt helped

blue smoke after start up can be valve stem seals, after standing a while the oil runs past them into the cylinders and gets burnt away in the first minute or so of combustion

Get your injectors rebuilt mate !! They're always out of tolerance and usualy have a terrible spray patern !!! Due to blocked nozzles ! If they drip or don't spray properly the Diesel engine will smoke etc !!!!

also, making new threads all the time is a bit confusing to follow what you've been told to do/done :)

haha, not telling you off, just trying to find the other thread to work out what's been tried ;)

"I bet you can do the guide seals in situ with piston at tdc"

I could with my old 2.25d piston at TDC...with the help of a tool I made,

No reason why it wont work with a 200.

Nick.

not sure what am going to do a moment i was planing to run it untill it dies but mrs got stoped for the smoke

its alittle bluish smoke on start up, but it mostly smokes a 1500-2000 rpm after that its fine lol

Pop the breather pipe off the air filter and hang it into a cut open soft drinks bottle make sure the pipe is a really sloppy fit so the gas can still escape to atmosphere and see what it catches, lots oil means crankcase is pressurising and its a tad worn out.

drive it around like that for abit, or a few revs?

nick ill get a couple recordings, let you see. its still alittle rough when first started, abit white/blue smoke if left to idle.. once warmed up( running temp) any smoke at idle when cold is gone....

if i hold the revs about 1500/2000 (when turbo kicks in) it will keep smoking untill i take foot off or rev above 2000, hot or cold

You can do either as it wont and cant do any harm, many many engines breath straight to atmosphere with no issues at all.
When you say turbo kicks in are you at a standstill or moving?

Turbo seals can go letting oil past...or the valve stem seals,

Did it ever run clean with no smoke or has it only started recently.

It's been like that since I got it, couple months

It does it at 1500-2000 rpm parked up or driving.

Have you tried cracking the injector pipes off the injectors one at a time to see if the smoke stops?
Try them one at a time, if still smoke then tighten up and do the next one till all four done.

I have. It's also using oil. Rules out injector?

Just to test for faulty injector or bent con rod, sounds like burning oil then, should be able to smell burnt oil in exhaust if its that.
If not then I had a 200 that smoked like mad at 2000 but cleared after that, never did find out what it was and ended up scrapping it, many experts had a go and we tried absolutely everything , hope yours isn't as bad as that:)

Aye can smell it at times, to cause more confusion sometimes it's burning oil smell other times can be like unburnt fuel. Hopefully it can see another mot and get through the year.
