i ran my escort diesel on old engine oil filtered, mixed with parraffin to bring viscosity down then 50/50 diesel. ran very well.dont no if freelander would like mix.

Probably best to add the 2-Stroke first so the incoming diesel on top mixes it up better.

But I have to say that on the couple of times that I forgot to add the 2-Stroke, I just poured it in the next day.

I'm sure that just driving around would mix it up quite quickly.

I must say I was sceptical about this, but tried it at 200ml per tank and I do notice the difference.
Engine much quieter and smoother. No injector rattle.

We just need a before and after picture of an injector to see if there`s a difference after a period of time.

Well Well Well
On thursday I had to take my wife's Fiesta 1.6 TDCi in for an oil leak, (very very small) as the sump seal had started to leak. Well its 5 years old now and the sump had to be removed.
In the afternoon I had a call from the garage to say all done and they had taken some pictures ( hadn't mentioned running on 2 stroke oil ) as they had never ever seen such a clean engine !
I am yet to see the pictures and have asked them to e-mail me the pics , the fitter said it was spotless, there was nothing to even wipe out and the gauze strainer was spotless. Infact he went on to say that when he refilled the engine with oil it was so clean he was having difficulty reading the dipstick.
Now the oil does stay very clean for long periods ! so it it because I always run on BP diesel and leave the supermarket stuff alone ? or is it the 2 stroke oil I add as I have always done on this car ?
once the garage send me the pictures I will post but it must of been clean for the garage to be that impressed for them to take the trouble to take pictures & ring me up to tell me !

look how clean the strainer is and still its original colour ! no tarnish.

Well I already had a fairly full tank (brimmed it on thursday on the old folks business fuel card :)) and Ive noticed it has been using more than usual, either due to my right foot or its age. So I have done around 60 miles and used from the brim down the first 1/8th of a tank. Hmm says I. So after reading this thread, I have put in a 250ml bottle on top, with £15 of the shell V Power on top of that to mix it up. About to do a 200 mile round trip over christmas so will see what happens. Reset my trip counter so will let you know how its doing when I get back. Have a good Christmas all!

200 miles done, and it used from full to half a tank. It seems less smoky and smoother but no difference in performance by the looks of things.

on my tired old 200DTi
at 197500 miles, i`ve tried allsorts of addatives and stuff.
being a scooter/2T owner, I`ve poured in various 2T to try, and to be honest,
the cheeper the 2T mineral oil you can buy is the best I`ve found.
2T is made to be as smoke free as possable, therefore it must be a good addative fer yer oilburning doosel lump.
fully synthetic 2t is dear, very dear, but made fer highly stressed performance 2 strokes of which your diesels `aint!

If I put 10 litres of fresh new veggie oil in my tank and top up with derv, it sounds much better, runs smoother, and does more per gallon then straight diesel.
Is it because its thicker thus harder to draw & pump through?
If I do the above plus 2T, it dont make much difference on my old diesel lump..

Only just found out about putting 2 stroke oil in diesel through this thread,
Very interesting and I'm giving it ago,
I went to motorist discount centre but they run out of litre bottles and half litre bottles don't make economical sense so I bought 5 litres of Comma low ash mineral 2 stroke oil for £19.95, so less than £4 a litre,
I poured about 300ml in and filled it up, I will run it down and work mpg out, was previously doing about 33-35mpg so looking forward to seeing if it improves mpg,
will post results, cheers

It was green as well

dear Sir,
we read with some concern your comments in regard to your personal connecton between your highly stressed mind, and your connection to your bollix.
as a group who show regard to ones fellow registerd members,
it really is thought stopping that your pish and pish again is seen as an accomplice to the aforsaid minds throughputs with regard to one persons bollix.

Done 400 miles since trying this and no difference to mpg, not sure about perfomance as missus drives it most the time so I wouldn't know,

Still got 4and 3/4 litres of 2 stroke oil left so will keep using it till it's all gone and check mpg near the end

Hi Hugh,
What mix ratio do you use? I also have an xedi and am keen to learn more.

Best / most popular ratio seems to be 200:1

So a 250ml bottle for 50 litres.

Cheapest mineral based low-ash will do nicely - absolutely no need for anything synthetic - it could well not be so good.
