hi, im replacing the dizzy mounted ignition amp on the 35dlm8 distributor in my 3.5 rv8, the old amp is a 2 pin unit, whereas the new replacemnt is three pin, sadly the vendor cant tell me where the positve and negative wires from the coil go to on the amp, and i dont fancy frying it finding out, i believe one (possibly the middle one) is redundant in my apllication, i understand the early discos used this set up

use the link lead mate, cheap on paddocks and has a nice boot on it to waterproof the connections a bit

cheers bob, if all else fails i will purchase a link lead, but the replacemnt amp, comes with the connector and boot, and pins, just no explanation as to where they go, and like i say the vendor who is also strangely at matlock but not paddocks cant help me. i think craddocks do em as well, and they are a bit closer so may try them today, still got nealry a full tin of "start ya ba#@&trd" could allways set fire to the thing....

bob?

glad you figured it out lol I think you must be out somehwere along the lines of tdc-firing stroke and dizzy degrees and lead rotation but I dont have enough experience on the v8's yet to put you right.

Stuart could sort it for you no bother but hes v busy atm. PM me if you want his details.

googled it and came up with a fella on piston heads that had the wiring diagram, it is just two wires, middle is redundant
thanks for the thoughts anyway

The two pin amps are still available, if youre the sort of guy that likes to keep things original...
