I have an 08 fl2 & have had nothing but problems since I bought it a yr ago. 1st prob was noisey alternator. Garage replaced it under warranty. Ever since then it's been back in that garage 7 time's due to loss of battery power & another new alternator + new battery 4 mths ago & a slave cylinder. They guaranteed me it was sorted after new battery which I had to pay for £130. The garage (who I bought it from) won't entertain me & ignore my call's or emails. Now the battery is completely dead & alternator not charging. Throughout all this I've had the battery warning light come on & off intermittently. Any idias would be helpful. Rob
 
Sounds like it has a faulty electrical connection in the charging circuit.
I can't see why a battery cost you £130 either, unless it came from LR. A top quality Exide replacement would be about half that cost.
If the selling garage won't play ball. Then you need to find a decent independent LS specialist, that can fix it.

Thanks for your reply. My bro bought the same make of battery for £72 so yes I know they ripped me. Quite a large concern as well (EMG motors). I kept telling them to use the car & they would eventually find out what was happening as it was intermittent. I'm unsure whether to just get another alternator & risk the problem returning or take it to LR in kings Lynn. Also unsure were I stand legally as this has been an on going issue since I bought the vehicle. But I think I will nip over to LR & see what they think. Keep u posted & thanks.

Hmmm, without having your charging system AND all the cables checked out properly you are just replacing parts on a whim, never a good thing. This may be down to a very simple thing or something a bit more complicated.

A dodgy earth, poor connections or internal cable corrosion could all contribute to what you have described. Having a new alternaor fitted once(was the previous one FULLY tested/did the garage do a complete and thorough assessment of the cables, earths and connectors?/Think we all know the answer there!)

LR dealerships will be no better, if normal 'form' is to be applied, I would suggest a LR specialist instead. Cheaper and more than likely better at hunting down faults and much more to lose with regards their reputation.

Swapping parts for parts sake is what garages do these days, because the do not have 'skilled' mechanics or technicians or.....probably, can't be bothered.
 
If this problem was brought to the garages attention during the warranty period, and they haven't sorted it, they are still obliged to fix your car. Make sure you keep a record of problems times dates etc.
Don't concern yourself with what the fault is, focus your attention on getting the garage to sort it.
It also appears to me the fault you have, has caused the battery to fail, that cost should be refunded.

Thanks for all that info. Sounds like your spot on & what I fear most as it could be a long drawn out process of elimination & leaving me without transport again. Yesterday I went onto the the dealership's website & left them a deserved customers review. Within the hour I had an email asking me to contact then to sort the matter out. I'm waiting on a call as I write this. I understand the dealership may not have been able to find the problem, but they should have offered me a refund or alternative vehicle. I will keep u posted. Great forum this.

That's my argument exactly. They've been in contact (the dealership) & want to get the issue sorted so fingers crossed & I'll keep u posted. Thanks for your advice.
