Thanks for that. Ive read the few pposts on here about trimming. Hopefully if I go for a reasonably sensible size tyre and the spacers, i wont have to take too much off.
Like the look of the tyres in the pics above, how much they cost ? I assume from looking at them they are pretty agressive / capable off roar ?

Surely I can't fit 265s on ? They are loads bigger than the 235s right ? Or maybe a better question is, How much would I have to cut to fit them ? As I said I dont want to go mad on the cutting, but ill have off with anything that is relitively easy to cut. Not that good at fabrication of "new" though.

You may (and I mean may cos I'm not sure) struggle to fit the 265s without more arch trimming.
Standard Land Rover wheels have a narrower offset than aftermarket modulars so your steering lockstops will need adjusting to stop the tyres fouling on the radius arms.
I ran my old Disco on 265s , but that was on a 3" to 4" lift, modular wheels and I cut the arches and rear doors/fitted an arch kit to make it work proper with absolutely no fouling.
Those Recip tyres are big for their sizes - why not PM Beast of Bodmin, he's just fitted 265 Recips to his RR Classic.

OK. Seems like id be better going for the 235 70 16 recips, purely for the grip. Although I still fancy a larger diameter tyre for clearance.
The tyres I have now only say 205 R16 on them, no mention of the profile. Ive crudely measured the diameter and it appears to be about 30" which is abouth the same as a 235 70 16 tyre, diameter wise.
Thinking about it, ill go down to Exeter 4x4 and see if they can do me something inbetween the 235 and the 265 you guys recomend. The main reason for changing tyres is more clearance. (and I have a slow punture)
I know im very indecisive, but I just want the bigest I can get, without doing myself over with bodywork fouling that im too inept to sort out myself.

Boomer. I think what im actally gonna do is bid on your tyres. Give um a try for a month then decide what size to go for. (If I can get them to fit) However, is there an issue with having different sizes front to back ? Does that give you wind up ? Im from Exeter by the way.
yu do not want diff size tyres front and rear.

Fair enough. Thought that might be the case ! Not even short term, for testing purposes ?
i wouldnt - not on a perm 4wd - but if its just around a car park or so - shud be worth the risk - but not for a week or two.
