LANDROVER LAND ROVER 2" LIFT SPRING SPACERS DEFENDER 90 on eBay, also, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Nov-08 23:12:07 GMT)

you'll need set of these to go with them if you want full articulation PM639 Rear Shock Absorber Top Mount Dropper Kit (pair)

and i also used plus 4" brake hoses too, about 30 quid from paddocks

when i got mine the bolts looked to flimbsey so i used m10 stainless steel bolts all round (which i had anyway) an used new spring seats too, cost me 180 quid for a full 2" lift and well pleased with the result, i'm sure you can get better but it will cost ya a fortune.

Nick

mine works really well but not tried it off road yet so will post an let ya know after the weekend

hiya nick, thanks for that, yea please let me know how u get on over the weekend, and if the gear puts up with offroading and if u have a chance take a few pics for us 2 mate. thanks alot.

sam.

with fitting these should you not fit dislocation cones on the back too?! they drop the shock 2" down so the spring could come out seat at the top?

I wanted to fit these at the back and also 2" dropped front top mounts on my disco for better articulation but thought you needed cones too?

also do you have to bleed the brakes to fit longer hoses?! ive got a 2" lift fitted but wanted to upgrade a bit more now i wanna try harder more technical off road routes

Not necessarily. 2" lost on the shocks, 2" gained on the spring, so although the axle will move 2" further, the spring is already 2" longer to make the difference up. It is a good idea to fit them thobut. Unless, of course all you do is use the droppers and front lowered shock turrets with standard shocks, then you need cones front and rear.

Definitely. You need to fill the extra length (oo-er missus) pipes with fluid, which will be taken from the reservoir, so topping up required, and you'll need to purge the air from the pipes so the fluid can get in!

Personally I'd get 4 or 5" longer rather than 2" ... not too much extra cost and means you don't have to buy them in future when you want an even bigger lift, or even more articulation.

Ah ok, yea got 2" springs and shocks fitted so fitting, lower turrets and mounts without cones can be done!? but better to fit the cones to be safe?!

yea they seem to fill the articulation atm, but i will upgrade them, how would i purge the air out of the system though?!! i hate brakes only bit of mechanics i dont like doing

Nope. 2" springs + standard shocks and shock dropper OK, 2" springs + 2" shocks on standard mounts OK. 2" springs + 2" shocks + shock dropper needs cones. it's mostly the shock that controls or limits the amount of axle articulation (as well as the A-Frame etc), so whatever length you make the shock, that length has to be either taken up with by a spring, or the spring can come un-seated, which is why cones are needed.

IMHO when +2" springs are fitted it's worth fitting cones anyway, even with standard shocks, as the springs have a tendency to bend a little and can pop out much easier than shorter length springs.

Bleeding. I said purge, I meant bleed, but it's the same thing. And yes, one job I hate ... ;)

ow hate bleeding brakes lol i know its one of those things that needs doing just **** job, might just leave it till they brake lol

hi ya im new hear but just a question to you all dose all this aply to td5 disco as well as i have just changed the air springs to coil now want some hight

So what about the shock mount drop if your using spacers?

I too am considering a 2" lift on my 110, but i also require it to keep the extra heavy duty springs.

So im opting for the spacers, as the 2"+ springs are too soft for some of the loads i carry.

i used spacers an shock droppers on mine an it werks well:D
albeit abit of a harder ride but fantastic of road;)
