Sorry to resurrect an old thread..

Did you have any issues with the Spigot bearing for the gearbox? (what parts did you need)

I have a Daihatsu in a a RR Classic 1983 (Ex V8) The timing belt snapped :mad: So have purchased a replacement engine to go in, all going well and fine until the spigot bearings, Cant get the original daihatsu spigot out (new engine) (have resorted to drilling it out, And now can't get what looks like a sleeve for the brass spigot out (from the original engine), (The Brass popped right out with the Hydrolic Grease meathod.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated after 4 hours of playing with them............
 
Get a local engineering works to turn you one up. If you know somebody with a lathe its half an hours work at the most.

The guys that do the Daihatsu conversion kit, will supply you a New spigot bush for £25+VAT i think.

As Shifty says, a local machine shop maybe able to manufacture one for you, but i dont suppose it will be much different in price once you bought the bronze and and they machine it down.

My Daihatsu engine had a proper bearing in for the spigot, i removed it and knocked a bronze one up down my mates machine shop.

I think it was some thing like, 32 o,d 22 i,d and 10mm thick.

Great thread, has helped answer loads of questions.

I've got an E reg 110 with a DL - 52 lump in it (was a V8 apparently).

Just a few questions:

Which lump did you have in it originally?

How does she drive now, speed, pull, mpg etc?

Did you ramp up fuel and boost?

And lastly where did you get and what type (size) is your intercooler?
