Random Bloke

Hi
My 2.5na is running unevenly and idling higher than normal (hunting?) but only when the tank is less than half full of fuel.
I have replaced the fuel filter, cleared the air hole in the top banjo bolt (it WAS blocked),checked the fuel cap vent, bled it at the injector & changed the air filter.
I have coped with this for over a year by keeping the tank full, when it runs perfectly.
I have made a long search of this site, but can find no further info’

Cheers

air compressor if you aint got one of em then your gob around it and a set of elephant lungs would help lol !!!!!!

I mean where is the best point to blow it from ,it all looks push fit (or push NOT fit, as is most often the case)
Is it not under pressure?

Blew out the return (but did not bleed) – same problem. Took out the fuel lift pipe (?) from the tank cleaned it & stirred up the sediment in the recess it sits in, bled the system & ....... SORTED
I`m unsure what sorted it, but a post on this site pointed out that when the tank gets empty & sloshes about, some air is taken up to the filter where it returns through a small hole in the top banjo bolt (mine was blocked) through the return pipe(may have been blocked) & back to the tank.
Thanks to Digbymole for taking the time
Mad hat man ..... Whilst I`m sure a small explosion would produce enough air pressure to clear the pipe, I see lots of safety/legal problems with your suggestion, so did not proceed.
Cheers everyone.

ONE LIFE....... spend it driving stupid macho vehicles.

Or rather NOT sorted........Changed the fuel lift pump & TOTALY SORTED, maybe got weak, full tank is less to lift.
FYI early 2.5na ninetys have the same pump as S3

thought so.. I had nearly the same fault with a Chevrolet petrol car, the fuel pump would sound noisy, and the car would stall out at random with under a half tank. Changing the pump sorted it out.
