Ok folks, riddle me this, starting procedure prior to putting new air filter (bosch) in was as follows, key in, turn, wait for glow plug indicator to go out, crank for two seconds then switch off and redo sequence engine would then start straight away. Now having put new air filter on the engine has to be cranked three maybe four times for up to ten seconds a time before it eventually fires up with a puff of white smoke.....curious,unfortunately cannot put old air filter back in to test as went in dustbin to be taken away before this problem reared its head, now I am wondering crank sensor (one on order), coolant sensor, injector problem, leak off pipe problem or what ?????? Is it possible for a dodgy air filter to completely restrict air flow though never heard of such a thing. Once it has started it starts first time everytime all day long until left overnight again. All thoughts gratefully received

Glows plugs. Sounds like 1 wasn't working and now 2 are suspect.

And check leak off pipe is sound.

Cheers ,was thinking recently of changing glow plugs as a matter of course, Beru are the favoured ones I believe
Put Beru in mine and it has never started so well. Got mine from Eurocarparts with a discount code. There's a post by me somewhere with the part numbers in.

Many thanks for your help., have just been on eurocarparts and ordered a set using discount applied this weekend and Kevstar I normally help other people and have done for many many years but your never to old to listen and learn Son
