I have a 2001 Freelander 2.5 V6 Auto and after a short time of driving the HDC warning light comes on and stays on.

Any tips on what the fault could be. I have read that on manual versions the wires can come off the switch - surely this would not happen on an auto as the switch is static and does not move????????????

maybe worth a check anyway ?

which warning light is it (i.e. what colour) and does it flash or is it constant ?

might be worth a search for 3 amigoes

could be brake light switch on brake pedal, could be a faulty sensor, could be crud in the stator ring

Its the yellow light with the exclamation mark after it. its on steady.

It used to come on after a few miles and since i tightened the throttle cable slightly it comes on sooner now.

Should I reslacken the throttle cable?
