Hi all,
Looking for some advice for our 2.5 Turbo to 3.9 EFI V8 Auto conversion.

1984 90 Defender
2.5 Turbo
New direct replacement chassis from Richards Chassis's
3.9 EFI V8 from a 94' disco

It seems the original engine mounts are too far back by about 5', but the gearbox is spot on.
Am I right in thinking the 2 engine mounts need moving forward and leave the gearbox mount as it is?
(Assuming we use defender V8 mounts).

Thanks for any advice.

my advice would be - to keep props standard - fit the box in the right place - where its supposed to be.

move engine mounts to suit.

I looked into this when i was going to do a 3.5Carb conversion on a 2.5TD . just picked up a 200TDI defender engine in the end. seemed a better move.

+1, I'll go with that. It's cheaper to weld new mounts on than it is to have props modified.

Thanks for the replies guys! We thought as much.
Just ordered some galvanized engine mounts from Richards Chassis's.

Looks like the gearbox mount from the disco lines up perfectly with the holes on the defender chassis, so don't think there's any need to buy a defender gearbox mount?

fit up your props - see where the box sits. im not familiar with the disco gear box mounts - are they straight - inline withthe tri bolt fitting on the chassis like the LT77 mounts you removed ?
