I pickup up my "new" 1984 D90 2.5TD recently and have been really happy with it - but suddenly I started to get SEVERE smoking when accelerating. Also noted some (not a lot) of the same colour smoke coming from one side of the turbo.
Here is a video:

I ~think~ it is an issue with oil getting into the downpipe after the turbo...
Back story:
I replaced all of the plastic and old leaking injector fuel return lines with Mercedes lines (and bled lines properly) which stopped all of the leaking fuel in the engine/etc. I took a good ride after changing the lines, experienced no issues (smoke wise) and let it sit for 2 weeks [work and kids], came back and one of the tires were flat...plugged it and started it up...and noticed the smoking issue. Turbo pressure is good at about 4 PSI, but not sure about the wastegate.
I also started rummaging around the engine compartment - as I am not an accomplished Rover guy yet - and noticed what seems to be a bolt missing from the turbo, some small leaking from below the turbo, and smoke "puffing" out behind the turbo when accelerating. (see attached pictures).
Does anyone have any thoughts on that (aside from putting in a 200/300 TDI), I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Sean
