Good afternoon,
Finally got my 110 through it's MOT and working getting it running right. I've got a new distributor for electronic ignition and have just gone to check the timing before installing it, however I can't see any marks to line up to the arrow on the pulley. Any advice? It's a 1988 2.5 petrol.
Thanks

Have you looked at the pulley all the way round? Cleaned it?
Got any pics of it at TDC number 1.

You may have to go back to old skool basics to find TDC then you can mark it and set from there.

Just working through an issue with my 85 2.25. it was gummed up but a wire brush gently revealed it. Then marked the centre with a paint pen. Mine is meant to be TDC static but it's way off and I'm not sure if it's the fuel I'm using or something else. But I will endeavor. Just brought some good books for it so can start reading.

This is what mine look like after going at it with a wire brush. I have another issue that I won't digress too much on here as I have a seperate thread for that. Just fitted new accuspark distro, plugs, wires and will fit a new coil when I send my ballast one back for a non ballast one. But the coil is working ok, just wanted a new one so I know what I have. My issue is rough idling which is probably down to the cam chain not being under tension on tickover, it's smooth when revving, so my next check is to check the valve rocker gaps and at the same time see if there is any backlash there...if not, then I'll be taking off the chain cover and seeing if the tensioner or oil pump pressure tensioner thingy is failing.
But the car runs just as well 30° pre TDC as it does TDC. I have managed to get it to where you see in this picture at below 600 RPM and vacuum off.
But the marks will be there...just have to dig a bit. Honestly, I could not see them on mine at first.
