My 1986 90 2.5 petrol engine with Weber 32/32 carb does not want to start when hot after being turned off for 10 mins or so. Starts OK when cold and runs fine so I am sure all carb settings are correct. My investigations have lead me to suspect that when hot and turned off the fuel in the carb bowl is boiling and vaporizing causing either airlock or flooding. The position of the carb above the manifolds means it does get very hot once cooling from airflow when moving is removed.
Has anyone experienced this problem and worked out a fix.

I have the block between the carb and manifold but no heat shield. The parts catalogue doesn't show one for the carb but there is one for the starter motor. Do you know the part no. for one and where I could get one?

I had endless problems like this with the points & condensor breaking up, once I got shut and replaced points with a electronic jobby it was sound as a pound !

i used to have the same issue, I never bothered to look at is as i was putting a tdi in.
