Hello,

A few weeks, well months back i had a crappy battery in my 90 and while trying to start it one morning i had a fair amount of smoke come out a vent in the bonnet. The reason that i mention that is because it has started to chuck out white smoke on start up and im guessing it is connected in some way. GLOWPLUGS? Its wether or not glow plugs would cause this to smoke only when you first start it up in the mornings. When i do use this 90, and to be fair its normally only once maybe twice a week and it covers a massive 50 miles a week. It doesnt smoke as bad once already started. If its only been a couple of hours since its been driven there is virtully no smoke at all. It runs ok as far as a 90 goes and im not losing any more oil than the next one and the water level stays the same (ish). i am going to service it and it does need a couple of bits but these are Filters Belts & admittedly an oil seal on crank shaft, which i have been meaning to do for months. I was going to change the Glowplugs out but dont want to if they wouldnt cause this.

not ness... unburnt fuel too which is prob what your 90 is doing. if its turning over and not firing then the fuel is passing through the system. mine does this loads. lots of white and black on start up. once its warm its fine. i wouldnt worry too much. how much time are you giving the glow plugs before cranking?

u need to give the glowplugs longer than 10secs, i hold them for about 20 to 30 secs. my 90 is only used for off roading and only started every two weeks, once started a load of white smoke, drive a few miles and if u start again no smoke.................nothing to worry about

only need 10 secs on my glow plugs , n/a engine , had to hold it for about 20 secs before I put new ones in ,does make a differance and my battery is not the greatist either but that will be getting changed too.
