My 110 suffers from bad back pressure, so much so that I have drilled a hole in the rocker cover and threaded a pipe in it to help relieve the back pressure. I read somewhere that a blocked breather can cause back pressure, but the only form of breather pipe I can find is the small one that leads off the oil cap, are there any others?

The power is down to, slows down as soon as you hit a hill and then struggles to get up it!

My dad (retired mechanic) has offered to whip the head off and rebuild the engine for me(result!, free labour). He reckons my rings have had it and the valve stem oil seals are buggered as well.
This is what he reckons he will need to do;

New rings(he said get hepolite rings, thier the best apperently)
New valve stem oil seals
Regrind the valves or replace if nessecey
Decoke
New big/little ends
Bore de glaze.
Anything else that needs doing as well.

Any tricks/modifications that I should also consider?
Cheers

Sounds to me like your Dad knows what he's doing. Go for it.

Try to get someone to test the "pop" pressures of the injectors, and re-set them if they aren't right on the correct pressure.

Once he's done your engine send him up here. There's plenty here to keep him amused for years.

 my 90 suffers from the same problems, as yer say the only way is to do the rings, re grind valves and new oil seals, new head gaskit,
the cost of this is pennies ;) even with new gaskit set for whole engine yer only looking £25,

have you compression tested it?

will be doing mine, when the series is back on the road, as they are my only vehicles, so am nackered if ther both off the road. will do for now, smoking and under powered specialy when towing !

I have the same problem with my 2.5NA, the compression test showed different results on all four cylinders, No-3 is very low, but I dont have a problem with the performance, only the initial take off is pretty slow. Also I have oil spewing back because of the back compression & yes its always just near the red in the temp gauage, no matter what. Put a electric fan, but that too did not help. Have never seen the temp gauage ever in the middle as its supposed to be. On steep hills it overheats and so I have to be careful.

I guess its best to be rebuilt. However I have decided to get a Def 200TDi engine and do a swap as here in India the cost of rebuilding the 2.5Na and the swap is nearly the same amount.
