I've got what I believe to be a 12J N/A deisel in my 1979 109" series 3.
Apart from a choked fuel filter at the sender unit it has been pretty trouble free since buying the Landy in March of this year. That is until yesterday!
There I was "racing" along holding a respectable 50ish mph when she just seemed to gradually lose power and slowly dropped down to a struggling 30 mph. As I know there is quite a lot of work to do with cluch, gear box transfer box and axles I first wondered if it was due to something binding but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Having a play today trying to rev the engine whilst in neutral it doesn't seem to get to full revs and sounds as if it's flat at about half revs. When going out on the road today trying it again the engine stopped abruptly a couple of times immediately after starting then ran. Then within a mile of home she 'topped out' at 40 mph which quickly reduced to 10 mph. She then faultered and stopped. After checking I had fuel at the injectors she started again but failed to reach more than 30 mph and felt very flat.
She has smoked black under accelaration from when I got her.
If anyone can give me any ideas as to where to start looking for a cause I will be very gratefull.
