I'm going to make a snorkle for my Landy over the next few days which has a 2.5 NA Transit engine in it at the moment. I think 2.5" (63mm) I.D. pipe would be O.K. for that engine but would it be O.K. for the more powerful 200 or 300 Tdi engine I'm planning on fitting in a few months?

My snorkel is 70mm so it wont be far off the mark.

Have you seen the cross-sectional area of the Safari snorkels, for the 300Tdi Disco, where they go round the airfilter box, I'd guess it's probably half the csa of a plain 2", let alone 2 1/2" diameter tube ..

Thanks everyone. I've got some 65mm I.D. pipe on order and I'll try and knock something up before the weekend.

My snorkels have all been made out of 2.5" diamiter drain pipe for about a fiver. Work very well indeed, and it doesent hurt my wallet too bad when i watch them get crushed between the landy and a whatever bank i just slid into.

Please post some pictures of the snorkel as well as the inside where it is connect to the air filter. I plan on doing the same too.
