Hi guys. Recently had my. Engine changed. Thought its time to start on the transmission. I kept getting the select neutral message. Its been stuck in lo but driving fine. Looked underneath and the motor selector thing was unplugged. Plugged it back in to see if this stopped it. Now it says its changing with no. Faults but doesn't move. Starts to maje a weird noise if I try out it in park

If you take the motor off you should be able to turn the triangular thing to put it in high ratio. Cannot remember which direction but you'll work it out.

Test the motor while it is off.

Great thank you. Put it back in high. Think I need a new sensor to tell the car what it's in. The motor works. I tested it. Then test drove it. Was still in low. So just put the 12v to the pins to spin it. So if the motor works. And when it's connected it tried to spin. Does this mean its probably the ecu?

ECU failure is not uncommon. The drive transistors burn usually because the motor has seized. The motor has I think got to be set up correctly, not just fitted in any old rotational position. It's in RAVE.

According to RAVE the position is part of the motor that shifts it between high and low range. 4 switches outputting on pins 17, 32, 31 and 7. All should be closed circuit apart from pin 31 for high range. For low range pin 32 and 7 should be open circuit and pins 17 and 31 closed circuit.

You could try as@grrrrrr said turn the triangular shaft to engage high then plug the motor into its socket and select high on the dash then refit the motor.

Little update to all my gearbox issues. Car wasn't running right. Wouldn't go about 3500.no sports mode or changing from high to low. Motor was previously unplugged so. Thought it was that but fine when I tested it. Turns out ever since I got the motor. Fuse 11 was in turning the transfer box to Neutral. My lack of knowledge in these cars cost me a few months in limp Mode basically. I don't know if someone was trying to fix an electrical fault. Put the fuse in then unplugged the motor not realising what they'd done but all I had to do was plug it back in and take the fuse out and everything is as it should be. Revs right up. Fallen in love with it all over again.

Fuse 11 insertion is for towing only.

Surprised it went anywhere at all with fuse 11 in. The manual doesn't!

Normally it wouldn't if they had not unplugged the hi/lo motor. It really does begger belief what people do at times.
That's what I mean. All that trouble. Because either a recovery service forgot to remove it or someone was putting fuses in willy nilly in the hope to fix something. Still I'm. Slowly getting there and starting to learn the car. The other day I left all my windows down with my dog in the boot in the shade outside the public toilet at the local beach to have drain myself. By the time I came out 2 minutes later. People had broken into my car. Opened the bonnet to get the dog out. Caused the iobiliser to turn on. Was relief I now know my eka code or the good samaritabs would've caused me and the dog to be in the sun all afternoon rather than for 2 minutesn
