Hi,

My first proper post after joining last week. I’ve had a proper google search, Rimmers, Island 4x4 etc and also here on the forum, but I can’t find the answer.

Does any one know either the size or part number for the engine oil sump fitting bolts?

Specifically the shorter length ones that run around the front and along the main sides of the pan? I found one snapped off, sans head. The broken stud came out easily enough. But I don’t want to refit the pan knowing I am a bolt shy.

I think they're 5/16, but ask @jamesmartin as he'll know for sure.

The diesel being a BMW lump will be metric m6 as a guess and the lent the same as the other short ones on the front.

yes m6 x 20mm, m6 x 60mm m6 x 100mm

Just do a Google search for BMW M51 sump bolts.

Googling sump bolts brings back sump drain bolts.

Not when i do it it don't it brings up various choices. Try harder.

M6 x 20mm when I done mine recently. 8.8 Tensile strength, 100 pack from screwfix £2.60.

my search only brings up cheap multicoloured sump plugs
or individual 2nd hand ones - that seems crazy to me?

And £2.50 a pop
