Went to Brighouse motor auctions this morning with a view to bidding on a 2001 2.5 diesel County. Done 74k miles, full service history, 3 owners, Epsom green with lightstone leather. Looked at car before auction, can't have keys so couldn't look inside or start it. Looked ok, few scrapes and scratches. When it was its turn to be sold the guy started it up, engine sounded ok but 'gearbox overheat' came up on message centre. Also front suspension would not rise and was lower at one side than the other at the back. Sold for £3,800!!! couldn't believe it, was thinking with those faults would be about £2k max.

Silly money!! if it needs a new gearbox that will be £2k, sort suspension out probably another £400, repair scrapes £250. Could get a lot better car for that money.

I've seen diesel ones on ebay which are a lot better and less money! It's a big risk buying one with those faults.

Golden Rule:

Never buy a Range Rover with faults, ever - unless you are fully aware of the cost and potential repair process.....

Ebay is NOT a good place to buy vehicles, unless you look before parting with any cash.
Everyone selling a car is a basturd trying to get as much money out of you as possible so will bull**** problems. Doesn't matter where you buy it from, never trust the seller if they say "has xyz fault, but they all do this" you can bet your bottom dollar they don't all do this. Walk away.
