Hi
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on a project i fancy doing. I have a knackered P38 Range Rover here with a great engine & manual gearbox. I assume the box is a R380. I would like to have the engine in a Series Land Rover. Mechanically i can get over most things but electriciry does my head in. Is the engine management system a standalone unit which can be transfered or will it be very complicated. Please, not to much criticisim here. I just love the BMW unit. It sounds great and pulls well. Ive had V8s, TdIs TDs V6s. The Land Rover would only be a toy really. Bla Bla. I cant seem to find much on this conversion. I just fancy it. Thats that!
Thanks
Terry

Or ECU from BMW/Omega without immobiliser. P38 ECU can also be deimmobilised.
Easy fitting of mechanical pump is only possible in early M51 engines and they were never fitted to P38. On later type some machning is needed to make adapter.

Only way I can think to de-immobilise is replace the chip without setting a security code?

Someone on here has a series with the BMW conversion albeit with a Mechanical FIP.....I love the M51 too and can understand your enthusiasm for that project.Go for it :)
