Morning

Looking to buy a cheap 1983 petrol 110 pick up with a head problem (that's why it's cheap) Geezer that's selling it has had it in the garage because it's as flat as a fart and the garage reckons it needs a new head or recon as there is only compression on 1 cylinder.

What do you reckon? Is this a classic problem? Dont know anything about the 21/4 lump (yet), and yes I would like to drop a tdi in it but you can't just do that sort of thing here.

How easy is it to get new heads or recon heads for the 2250 petrol lump (I'm in France) or would it be best to re-con the original head? What does it entail, New valves, skim head, pressure test ?????

Thanks in advance.

why not find out what the problem is? it might just be a HG.

i have an old 2ltr engine here that may have to same head on it . which i can check on monday if yer interested

Cheers again slob

It's been in a French garage for a couple of months, all the owner knows is that it needs a new head, might be somthing simple or it might be the whole engun that's absolutely trashed.

It's cheap, still on English plates and a long way (200 miles) so I'm taking a car-trailer with the intention of buying it regardless.

I'l get back to you once I've had a look at it.

Cheers

wrong direction or i could have met yer and brought that head along,, seems most series landies are down that way or over near the alps. when yer get it if yer need any bits give me a shout as i have some spares kicking around

2 litre head wont fit 2.250 engine
more than likely just hG sounds like its been driven till it wont go anymore the 2.250 engines are very easy for rebuilds right head s/hand would be v cheap HTSH:)

Thanks for that, fingers crossed!

Well I bought it all the same, after only putting some clean fuel in it seems to be running O.K, no white snot in oil filler cap, over heating, smoke etc.......Yeh it's as flat as a fart but aren't all 2250 petrols???? but not as flat as the diesel lump!

Oh yeh, turns out it's a 1985 110.

You should buy it!
if it is a 1983 110 then it is one of the very early ones

Had a compression test done yesterday, no or low compression on all cylinders:eek:

Checked the valve clearences before ripping the head off, Result:) exhaust Valves not closeing, set em all to 0.010" !!

Sorted goes like "**** of a stick" well it does for a petrol lump anyway.

Where's mi glass:D
