Looking for some advice for sorting the running of the 2.25 in my 80”.

I have an new Accuspark, electronic distributor, new HT leads and new Viper coil along with new plugs.

the issue I have is, there is an extra crossmember welded in the chassis for recovery point so I can’t get anything through the chassis hole to connect with the dog gear for turning the engine.

what socket or such fits over it all so I can set the timing and also so I can safely rotate the engine to set valve clearances.

It’s a 901 3MB engine.
 
The 3MB starter dog is a 1" Whitworth, or as Rob said you can move the whole vehicle in top gear. With the plugs out you might be able to turn the engine using the fan belt - this was how I used to gap the points before installing electronic ignition.
