My 1985 2.25 Petrol 90 will not start. When you turn the ignition key half way you can hear the fuel pump tick, but on full turn there is nothing. No noise, no turn over, just dead.
If you're not hearing the solenoid in the starter click when you move the key to position three, it points to the ignition switch or solenoid. Are you getting the battery and oil pressure lights at position two?
Hi Zeaphod thanks for replying. Yes I am getting the battery and oil pressure lights at position two. How can I check if it’s the ignition switch or solonoid?
The ignition solenoid is on the rear of the fuse box on the driver's side (RHD). Take the cover off the fuse box and give the area to the right of the fuses a good knock and see if that frees up the solenoid. Failing that undo the two screws that hold the fuse box to the bulkhead, the starter solenoid has a thick white with red stripe wire going to it.
