Does anyone know where i can get an injector rail for a 1970 series 2.25 diesel? mine seems very corroded.

I have recently bought this landrover and its been stood for 3 years and i thought it would be easy to get it running(how wrong was i!!). Ive had the starter motor turnning her over now but she refuses to get going. It has fired a few times but cuts out. ive checked all my earths and the wiring. The fuel had been in there for a while so ive changed that.Tried bleeding all the air out.

Can somone give me some pointer's as im new to all this but really want to get it going??:mad::blabla::alien:

I think may have one on the shelf. I'll need to check when free.

I would drain you tank, fill with fresh diesel and bleed that tho'. If you are sure that you have fuel upto the injectors and it still doesn't run the I would suspect the injectors. Also try and hot air gun on the injector pump. In this weather it could be that the old diesel has 'waxed' and is blocking the pump.

BTW, is that Christchurch in Hampshire?

What exactly do you mean by "an injector rail" ?

Please explain, and what is corroded?

I did a 109 2 1/4 derv up last year the bitch would'nt start though without a fistfull of "easy start" every time. The original glowplugs are wired up in line so if one goes they all don't work, you can get new ones that are wired up normaly.Did the trick for me starts up every time/all the time :)

hey guys! sorry for the late reply!!! finnanly got the thing running. think it was a mixture of corroded fuel lines, dirty diesel and glow plugs were shot. all up and running now though. yer im in christchurch in dorset (on the border of hampshire).

Shot glow plugs probably the crux of the issue, I've know diesels sit much longer and still start, a perky 540 in a dumper had been parked for years and years and still went and used 1/2 a tank of fuel that'd been there as long, that said changing it is good, it might block or wear the pump and injectors, the landy diesel having pintaux injectors make that more likely, the aux jet blocks and makes the engine hard to start, it squirts some of the fuel over the glown plug.
Good to see you are running, enjoy the drive, shame you werent a couple of weks earlier you could have played in the snow.

Think he means that tangly bit of pipework that goes from the pump to each of the injectors, I thought that was stainless or other non ferrous non rusty stuff so I'm a little confused there too.

If yer injector pipework is rusty simon, replace them its a fire risk, If a tube ruptures extremely fine spray squirts out at high pressure, and under those conditions if it comes into contact with the exhaust it behaves just like petrol, I've seen it happen its scary.
