hi guys.
i have just bought a seies 3 from a firend of mine. it has been stood in a fiels for a few years but has stood p well.
it has a 5 bearing 2 1/4 petrol.

when trying to sptart it last night, after oiling the bores a little and cleaning plugs and sch, there wasnt a spark.

The engine was in great condition before being parked up.

Things i have checked, there is 12volt accross the coil.
The leads are ok but will be buying some new this lunch time.
The rotar arm has been cleaned.

any ideas?
i intend to clean the points with some very fine wet and dry tonight, but anything after this if i cannot get it running??

there is definatly petrol getting through, just no spark..

any sggestions appreciated, as i really want to breath life back into this oldie and save her from the rust mites.

Thanks in advance

Not else in the system other than coil, plugs and leads.

Replacing the Dizzy would replace the rotor arm, points and condenser as standard.

You can check whether you are getting a spark out of the secondary of the coil by removing a spark plug and connecting it directly to the output side of the coil. Just sit it on the engine block(to earth it)and connect/disconnect the 12V from the coil. You should get a spark. If not coil or lead is knackered.

All ignition parts are cheap, and to be honest you may as well replace the lot, all at the same time, so you know it's all new and shouldn't have any weak points.
