“Once again I approach the font of knowledge "
My Head gasket set has just arrived for my 2 1/4 diesel series, it came from craddocks this week with lots of other ordered goodies. I was surprised to find that the head gasket is made of copper!!! (It’s been a while since I've done a head strip). The old one was a steel asbestos sandwich type; the new one seems thinner will this affect compression, or valve timing? Also do you fit these gaskets dry or use a jointing compound i.e. hylomar blue? I can understand that copper will heat transfer well, and not heat burn but what about sealing oil to water galleries. Amongst the bits supplied with the kit are 4 large flat copper washers aprox 1/2" wide. ,8 1/4" size compressible washers copper and 8 1/4" mild steel again compressible, are they inserts or washers and where do they go? Also with the head bolt torque settings be the same, and do you need to re torque after heat cycle? If you have any knowledge ideas or experience of these gaskets, or have any sugestions for my questions please post...
The make of the head set is BM PARTS, THE PART NUMBER IS br 0922, rovno STC15464 decoke engine set 2.25 diesel supplied by craddocks...
