Hi all,
1988 Land Rover 90 19J, which one is correct starting procedure what to do with the key ?
when I go to the second position, the glow plug warning light does not come on, is this normal ?
shouldn't it light up ...?
only if I hold the key against the spring before the last click where the engine starts.......
Is the ignition switch broken ?
thank you
Giacomo

HI
How are you getting on with the starting procedure of a Td4 2002 VIN : ..........2A202 ?

That is correct. When in position 2 the ignition is on but the glow plugs won’t be. Position 3 is spring loaded and is the glow plugs and then end position 4 is the starter. You get the same procedure with the old Lucas tractor switches. It is fairly standard for things that were not fitted with glow plug timer relays.

it's normal the only issue i find is that when you use the glow setting it sometimes knocks the permament feed to my radio off and i have reset the clock
i'm doing a full rebuild so i'll be wiring the radio differently this time

Are you remembering to scream start you ******* useless piece of **** or so help me I'll ******* scrap your ******* rust ridden ***

I think its in the owners manual. Usually works
