Not read the OP's post then? Been running with suspected low fluid level for some time.
Might be worth trying a fluid change but Transmission fix would be a waste of cash as it not likely to fix it if the torque converter has locked up.

Ringing around, my local car spares shop doesn't stock ATF by the gallon but can get Dexron 3 in for tomorrow; Automotive Parts Distribution in the next town has 'AQF transmission fluid' they've been selling 'for donkey's years' but can't tell me if it's Dexron 2, 3 or armpit scrapings - so I'm not buying from them as I read an earlier post by you saying if it wasn't Dexron 2 or 3 it would ruin a gearbox. Query: Why did you say that?

Some of the newer versions of Dexron ATF is not compatible with the HP22 gearbox.
 
That's because you live in France. I've ordered 5 litres and we called them a gallon. Don't even mention Brexit! Grrrr.

Ha, I'm old enough to remember being able to put 4 gallons of petrol in my van and get change from ten bob!
