Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can give me any advice. My P38 4.0 sometimes overheats after a short journey.

If you do around 15 miles in the car the temp gauge will shoot up to red and the light will come on, yet the heaters will blow cold, then if you put the heaters on high with the fan on full, they blow hot and the temp comes back down. If the heaters are not on high they seem to blow hot and cold as they please.

The headgasket was done on the car only 7000 miles ago so I dont think it can be this again??? Also in the water bottle of the car is an orange brown gritty substance clinging to the plastic inside.

I checked the thermostat and suprise suprise it has been removed completely. I wonder if a radiator flush will solve it or if anyone knows what else could help?

Thanks in advance...

I would say it needs a thorough flush, and someone has mixed OAT anti-freeze with standard Ethylene Glycol stuff. It could also be a radiator blockage - remove it and give it a right good flush as well.
