hi all
i have a 1998 5 door freelander that when at speeds of up to 40mph, you need to have legs like arni to stop, but over 60 they work quiet well, abs works if you can press hard enough to get it to lock up, lol. any ideas on what could be wrong? i am sure its to do wih the vacuum side of things
thanks

1998, ABS, lockup,,dont make sense.

Check vac pump and associated piping. Sometimes the small connector breaks off the main pipe, destroying the vac.

if you do 60, they will lock up and abs kicks in, but at 30 you can press as hard as you like, but no chance of locking up, its like there no pressure to assist you on the pedal, like no servo assistance, i checked the pipes, seem fine, there is a pipe to a relay then to a little vacuum device on exhaust manifold and another to a device on the alternator, more used to petrol set ups, any ideas? as the brakes are a bit dangerous in town
thanks
