Sorry I see what you mean, no nothing plugged into the phono jacks, just the factory wiring harnessThe red and white jacks?
I thought the sub plugged into a dedicated socket on an original discovery stereoSorry I see what you mean, no nothing plugged into the phono jacks, just the factory wiring harness
This is what I thought at first but I’ve dug all the harness etc from behind the stereo and as said earlier, the only spare plug is the old dash control wiring. The fact I’m getting voltage right up to the connections on the sub speakers yet no output what so ever is confusing the crap out of me too. I’ve seen threads which say to cut the wiring behind the stereo for the factory amp and sub and solder phono plugs onto the audio wires but I’m reluctant to do thisI thought the sub plugged into a dedicated socket on an original discovery stereo
it does, did with the original Philips unitI thought the sub plugged into a dedicated socket on an original discovery stereo
Quite right too, the audio plug your looking for is flat, fitted with two flat female pins and with a metal grounding band around it.This is what I thought at first but I’ve dug all the harness etc from behind the stereo and as said earlier, the only spare plug is the old dash control wiring. Right I’m on the same page as you now I will get on it after work tomorrow and hopefully get it working and put an end to this thread which I’m sure is probably starting to get on people’s nerves! My photo I posted earlier shows it laying across the left hand heater temp control with a bit of masking tap around it.
So as I made my own 2 into 1 lead from bits i found in the ‘may be useful box as shown below.
I didn’t have any spade connectors and as never cut plugs of, I used the next best thing and cut the two blades off a fuse and with a bit of solder job done. Sill okay 13 years later.
