Well Gentlemen, it didn't go well, from me fracturing my right knuckle, to the puller plain not working.

Wound it up and left it and this is what happened..:

That was never going to work, any pull has to be on the hub. Now that it is fubar can you maybe cut it off and get another ?

That was always the fallback position.
It should have worked if the corrosion wasn't so bad. I do have box bar sections ready to make a cradle, but for the £20 for a replacement, I'll cut it off now, but that will just be messy.

Not enough lateral depth in the ones that are readily available, so I have started drilling down the side of the spline shaft.

First hole is done and nearly perfect in terms of tolerance. I estimate another two of these and it will collapse in on itself.

Well, it's off.

I was wrong, it took another three holes, but at least I managed them before the temperature got silly.

Corrosion on the spline and taper.

I did damage the thread ever so slightly, but nothing that I can't dress up with a thread file.

Now, I can have a go at the electrics properly and hopefully pick up a new steering wheel at Ch

save that little spring clip with the 2 tabs - it’s the auto cancel for the indicators and maybe missing from a replacement wheel. It’s just a push fit item

I will, but it's badly corroded, so it'll get a blast and coating before it goes back in. Those things are £20 new!
