New here so hope i am following proper procedure. I have a newer battery (battery charger shows it is fully charged). i tried starting it after a number of months with no use. it clicked a few times now nothing. lights will not come on at all but battery charger indicates fully charged? The battery charger works (just charged another vehicle). Any ideas? Thanks!

i can try that but it seems that if the battery is fully charged that jumping it directly would not have any impact correct?

The charger is reading it as fully charged, it may not be actually fully charged, so junping it is a legitimate test of function.

I know its probably too obvious, but are the battery posts clean and the leads clamped on properly!?

Check the battery earth (-) lead connection integrity to where it joins the engine/chassis/body.

The first thing that I'd do is to check the battery voltage when the battery is at rest (it should be between 12.5 and 13v) and then again when you try and crank the engine. If the voltage drops through the floor when cranking you have a knackered battery. If it shows as being ok check the earth straps and the starter motor connections are all clean and secure.

It sounds more likely that the battery is fubar'd.

if your battery is all good and the connections are , try whipping the starter motor off and seeing if it spins freely when you turn it manually , ive had this before on my 200tdi , if its ceased spray it with freeing fluid and use a screw driver to spin it over !
