Just getting my angle grinder and mig ready to replacing the rear x member on my disco, the questions is do I need to support the body or is this overkill as is is supported in other places, any advise welcome.

Replaced mine acouple of years back. Found I didn't have to support the body. On mine the rear body mounts were completely shot anyway . Both ends of the cross member were in good condition so I measured up and cut the new to slot in. Saved having to remove the wing panels.

When I did mine, I welded a brace across the back door opening just in case the sides opened up.

Thanks for the advice I will bo the brace accross the doors as mine is totally gone, seems strange that I do not seem able to buy new rubbers to replace the old ones.

Rubbers are available. I replaced rubbers and bolts etc. YRM are good for cross members also supply the rubbers and bolts.
