What is "rave". And where can I get it.

Because the fuel pump begins to run when cranking. Im thinking the ecu must be getting a signal (to switch on the fuel relay) because that is the only way the ecu would know that the engine is being cranked.

I pulled the plug of one of the injectors and when I put a +ve on the ignition wire
( white/light green) I was getting a +ve at one side of the injector plug. All the injector needs now is a switching -ve. I put a multi meter on injector plug both pins to see if I was getting a pulse but I saw nothing. Is the pulse long enough to see it on a multi meter.

Does it need a fuel thermistor to run the injectors because I just left that in the discovery. And the plug is just hanging in the engine bay.

It will run with or without the fuel temp sender but you really should fit it. helps with hot starts, although not so much of an issue in uk im led to believe.

connect a small test lamp to injector loom to check pulse. they bank fire so you only need to check one injector per side and you should see left right left right etc as you crank.

Rave is just about any Land Rover workshop manual to download - do a search there are hundreds of threads that have the details.

Next - have you read the threads I posted earlier. You are going to have to put some time in and research this.

To the best of my knowledge the fuel pump running at start up has nothing to do with the injectors, the main efi relay energises at ignition on, the fuel pump relay is energised at the same time - before the engine actually cranks over. There is no way for the ecu to measure or control the fuel pressure.

As for measuring the injector pulse with a multi meter I would have to say I doubt it, the pulse simply isn't long enough.

By the sound of it you need to go right back to basics and check everything again. Do try a substitute ECU.

Best of luck.

Try a test lamp on your coil terminals. The earth clip of the light to the -be of the coil and the test light tip to the +ve, crank the engine as see if the test light pulses. It should pulse as the trigger wheels in the dizzy passes the pick up. There should be a little black resistor inline with the blAck white/ or blue white negative side of your coil, this should be about 670ohms I think. If your plugs are dry then it will be something related to the trigger wheel and wiping I'd Imagine, check the trigger wheel air gap maybe?

Hi. I got it running today. Because I hadn't taken the all the lpg wiring out the plug that's is meant to go right on the injector went onto the LPG loom. So I ripped the gas loom out and away she went. Thanks again everyone.
