Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but what should I budget for returning a 1994 300tdi RRC to its original air suspension set up? Assume nothing has been left on the vehicle. Any recommendations where to get it done?
I would say this would be a DIY job as I am sure a garage wouldn't want to take on such a task.
You'd need (not an exhaustive list):
Air Bags,
Airlines
Receiver
Valve Block
Compressor
ECU
Switch Gear
Height Senors
Wiring Looms
Connections to the Engine ECU - For running signal
Connections to ABS ECU - For Speed Information
Budget figure is hard to says as many of these things are no longer available and you'll have to scour Ebizzle and other such sites for the parts...then make sure they work and renew all the seals.
I reckon you are better to do it yourself as any garage would be daunted by the prospect and impossible to estimate time required. An awful lot of footering involved
Not a silly question at all. The answer is partly OCD, but I think there is satisfaction from returning something to its original condition, and I don't see springs as an improvement on the original set up. The number of RRCs that have had perfectly good but poorly maintained air sus removed is criminal! Each to their own I guess. Obviously there is no rush so I can take some time pulling the kit together.
