Old man pulled over in his car today said ive made a good effort but he couldnt understand why i didnt fit a 200tdi to it....... My turbos in the wrong place , its a 2.5td i have fitted he said- he had seen my turbo when he drove past when i had the wing off for a few days.

Had to explain that one :)

Finished off my strengthening/crush tube renewal for the winch bumper and got my bumper mounted propper.

Fitted the radio and wired it for the alpine speakers arriving tomororw and run speaker wires to the rear to give me the option to put my old 6x9s in behind the seats or in a cubby box once i get them from my parents.

Anyone got a fix for the fact stereos stick out about 3cm from the land rover spec housing on a 90 ? Im thinking an painted mdf plinth maybe.

Got all my front end suspension finished off , steering damper on , radius arms and panhard rod all tightened up , steering guard mounted.

Still got a bit of work to do at the front end , need to lower the radiator, thought i got away with just removing the rubbers but alas no so ill cut the 28mm out and reinstate the rubbers

Well todays progress was hampered by oli popping round with a dead alternator.

He had a snapped brush and a dead diode pack.

5 land rover alternators and not one was right so we stripped down a good one and rebuilt it into the old casing.

Painted my seat brackets and snorkle today

My bastard heated screen went to glasgow damnit.

yeah , just bought the red bison kit in the end.

****ting my self about fitting it.....

last one crack propagated from an edge chip.

flood light only .... no headlights....

going to run a flex back to the cab and put a switch on cant have that coming on with the main beams all the time - only needed on the lanes and country roads.

Inner and outer Wings on and bolted up propper

Wiring finalised and all working.

Sealed the wing plate of snorkle to the inside part

Fitted heater intake

Made passengers door fit- the door top was bigger than the old one ffs.

Got my screen wash working

Lowered the radiator and fitted the 200tdi rad brackets

Finished riveting the bonnet and fiting the spare wheel mount and it now shuts.

Fitted bonnet release handle in the cab and hooked it all up

Tomorrow doing my mates front brakes for him and in return hes going to hold my screen in place while i pull the cord

I love it when a plan comes together!

Even got the window controller box hooked up.

Where do folk normally stick em ? Not entirely happy with where mines is but itll do for now

Read through most of your thread again last night mate. Stunning job! Started following it from the start, but haven't been on it recently and needed a catch up. Were you happy with all of your tub repairs with the YRM stuff? I've got all of the same stuff and will be putting it together at the end of this week. (just ordered the strike plates today as I didn't realise they did them until reading your thread last night)

the YRM is 1 million miles away from any of the other repair stuff i used.

i wouldnt hesitate to recommend them for any parts they do , they have at least had the pleasure of trying to fit the parts they sell - i dont believe that paddocks have had some of their repair panels in the same room as the land rover they are supposed to fit some of the time.

i ended up getting all my bolts / my exhaust hangers / my radiator brackets / all the tub repair panels , striker plates , new sills , bulkhead feet.

and the only issue ive ever had over several orders was one right hand bulkhead foot was sent instead of a left.... and they sent a new one express without even taking the wrong one back.

get some good drill bits for the front of the tub repairs and plenty of upol grey stripe for the under tub seatbelt bracket to chassis bit get it all well sealed up with the upol - you will be creating alot of moisture traps imo.....

Defo need more drill bits as I have snapped most of mine on the job so far. Any particular sizes come in handy?
Just looked up Upol grey stripe as I didn't know what it was
I just bought some Tetrasyl seam sealer yesterday, so I'll have to hope that's just as good. I've bought a load of Dinitrol too. I got it when I was preparing my new doors last year, but got enough (I think) for the under body too.

It scared the hell out me last night reading about you setting up the bulkhead, window, roof etc to get the doors to fit! Bloody hell. Did you paint all of the parts separately before you put them all together? That's what I am planning on, but sounds like they'll get some stick when being fitted.

think i'm going to by some stubs next. i keep snapping the smaller ones upto 6mm.

got a set of hilti metal drill set which has been good.

i'm always after a 4 and 4.5mm bit

Itll be an 8.5mm mostly as youll be drilling for m8 alot of m8 bolts.

I used 2 ti ni irwin sets doing my rebuild , i would by dormer jobbers in 8.5mm - for m8 and 5mm for rivets next time as thats what i used almost exclusively.

Cheers, mate. I'll search Ebay and Amazon for drill bits and sets :)
What did you do about all the fixings for the YRM repair plates?
I've emailed them tonight and I'm going to give them a bell in the morning to see about the stainless sets they sell.

Big box of m8 x 30mm and a big bag of m8 nylocs and 3 big bags of m8 washers(1 each side)

All zinc plated not stainless.

And a big box of 4.8mm alu rivets
