So today was kind of productive whilst avoiding the rain, got the front offside wheel bearing done and brake disc but realized I ordered the wrong pads o_O
IMG-0391.jpg

Then moved onto the rear and found another ruined dry wheel bearing that came out in many parts:
IMG-0392.jpg

Then noticed that the axle tube is filled with oil / mud and silt so luckily when the rubbish welded gets thrown in the bin I can put the replacement diff in and clean everything up properly
IMG-0393.jpg

But did find time to test fit the dash and got the turbo installed but don't want to turn the key until I do an oil change for peace of mind
IMG-0396.jpg

@REKT , this for you :D

Oh yes I agree, I like what he says at 7:59 is a lot of years of neglect which sums my landrover up in a nutshell, the previous 2 owners couldn't have done much if any maintenance considering its been used hard offroad :(

I took out the rear diff today because of the silt I found in the axle tube and I'm glad I did, the state of the inside was bad I had to poke through the mud to get the oil to drain:
IMG-0414.jpg

Then found out why the diff flange wouldn't turn freely because the pinion bearing had gone and bevel gear shaft had snapped in two places:
IMG-0419.jpg

IMG-0421.jpg

I have a spare diff laying around ready to be fitted once I've cleaned out the muck and rebuilt the stub axles and wheel bearings.

Also got the wiring sorted and cut out A LOT of the wiring ready to start fresh in the coming weeks as some of it had melted/split/cracked, which once done will look smart with the custom dash.

I didn't get any photos during the previous weeks, but I've almost got the running gear done just one swivel housing to do due to a snapped brake caliper bolt which has delayed things.
3 brake calipers and pads done, 3 stub axles done, I have cleaned the rear axle tube and fitted a clean diff, the rear brake lines have been done as didn't like how they looked before as they were kinked.
So to get it rolling I've just got to do a swivel housing which I might do this coming weekend.

So this weekend I’ve got a fair bit done:

brakes bled / clutch bled / front diff oil change / front cage back on and welded / front wiring looms for lights have been made from dash to the lights.

next weekend I think I’m going to do the a frame ball joint and some radius arm bushes before the weather changes too much

still lots to do :)

So I finally got round to doing a few bits the past couple of weekends
The rear a-frame ball joint has seen better days and to be fair only took about 30 mins to do as someone previous had just taken that extra bit of time to copper slip the bolts!

IMG-0898.jpg

I have also done the radius arm and trailing arm bushes as they were knackered, just need to purchase a new trailing arm bolt as had to cut it as previous owner had cross threaded it on (my Milwaukee 1/2" gun wouldnt touch it and a breaker bar wouldn't), I did notice while doing the radius arms my track rods were perished so I will be upgrading to HD ones in the near future.

IMG-0896.jpg

I finally got round to fitting the offside challenge quarter panel and randomly spraying it primer grey to stop some rust forming
IMG-0900.jpg

I have also remade some of the dash panels so I can start fresh for my switches and not had poorly drilled holes that looked like a blunt drill bit had been used
IMG-0841-1.jpg

And today I didn't really get any photos but I did install the rear suspension lower bushes as they were missing and removed the cups the bushes sit in, I also made a battery tray for under the passenger seat and started to rewire but some wires were cracked and had many joins so I thought I'd start fresh as I don't want any future issues, I've also almost finished the rear lights just the fog light left to fit now.

I have finally got some more bits done!

- Got the new wiring looms made for each wing and to the rear, just got to start connecting it all up and marking cables and writing up a wiring guide for future reference
- Cleaned the rad out of all the mud stuck in it
- Modified the exhaust to fit back on
- Started to mount the O/S rock slider

I have also ordered loads of bits:
- Cable markers to mark the new loom wires
- Flasher relay
- Toggle switches
- Bonnet bushes and pins
- Fan mounts for electric fan
- New air filter
- New seat box ends along with pop rivets and drill bits
- Side lights and side repeaters
- Countersunk bolts to re fit aluminium floor plates
- Steering wheel boss for a different steering wheel
- Washer bottle kit
- HD steering arm
- New drivers door handle
- Passenger seat box lid/cover
- New indicator stalk
- Hand brake expander unit as I think mine is too worn

I'll try and get some more photos of the next big update which hopefully will be soon as I'll try get time off work.

So fair bit done this weekend,
- Most of the wiring for the lights is done just need to do the rear fog light and rear work lights, I've still got to do the gauges and some of the extra switches (Photos below)
- Fitted the rear trailing arm bolt I snapped a while back
- Fitted the washer jet system
- Fitted smaller steering wheel and boss
- Fitted the new HD track rods just need to adjust the tracking a bit
- Fitted new wipers and adjusted the arms
- Fitted new seat box ends as the others were terrible ( Photos below)
- Tidied up the front end, mainly cutting off odd bit of metal that had things attached to them once upon a time then gave it a quick paint

The lights on:

This one was the worst I have no idea what the previous owner was thinking, He also tried to cover it with riveted on stainless steel.

Another "handy" access hole???

She's come a long way, pretty happy so far just a "few" bits to do then time for an MOT
IMG-0257.jpg

So I bought an winch bumper cheap from a scrap yard which I think is a bearmach bumper for models with aircon, so as you can see it stick out waaay to far, So I ended up cutting it down and re drilling the holes so it now sits a lot closer then i got a bit carried away and mounted my winch but I still am waiting for the bumper fitting kit which should arrive later in the week.

Pretty happy with how it has turned out just needs a little adjustment and will be fine :)

So today managed to get a lot of the wiring done for the gauges and switches, which means there's not a lot left to do now, still a list but I keep adding to it all the small problems I find, that just need tidying up

Yesterday I got a bit bored and just had a browse on google to see if I could find any history of my 90, I ended up finding this photo which was a bit of a shock to say the least. Photo was taken in 2014 at the Suffolk Farmers Show where a local farm converted it to spread slug pellets with two 12v high mounted pellet spreaders...

Just been reading thru your build. It's looking good.
Where did you search to find out history of your 90
Cheers

Thanks, been a lot to do but still more to go
I just typed the reg in on google and it came up with that photo on an article

So bit of a long awaited update, I’ve had a bit of a spend up and got some more parts, I’ll try and get pictures tomorrow.

- two wing skins so I can attach them to the front cage wings to make it look a slight bit better
- two series 3 doors ( lift up handles) with new door tops as my doors are hanging
- 200tdi defender turbo manifold with turbo and inlet manifold so I can sort out the poorly modified bulkhead
- 110 High capacity rear bulkhead so I can maybe eventually trayback the defender

Went to my container after work and tried to hang a new door but the fairly new door bolts were so tight I had to drill them out which was annoying, had a rummage through some bolts and found 2 long m8's which are just holding it temporarily.

The old grimy dented drivers door:

The new door not mint but much better plus lift up handles which I prefer:

Also hooked on one of the wings just to get an idea in my head how I want it to sit and I think I've come up with a plan:

Here's the 200tdi defender turbo kit which I was quite happy I found as they seem hard to get now
IMG-3862.jpg

Today was a good day went out to buy some bolts for the door and ended up getting them for free, Went to toolstation bought a battery Milwaukee angle grinder which was only £89.99 then upon purchase got a coupon for 10% off my next order so being the impulsive person I am, I went ahead and got the Milwaukee combi drill and impact driver for £227 as I currently only have the 1/2 impact driver and 3/8 impact drivers.

So went on to my container and started doing a few bits to the 90, ended up getting both doors fitted although the hinges are absolutely hanging so I'll have to get more, and used the angle grinder to cut up the wing so that is now roughly in place just need a flap wheel disc to tidy up some edges.
