Hi, I am restoring (basically puting back together a series 3 with a restored chassis). I am replacing many parts inc handbrake kit, brake pipes, filters, fuel piping etc.... For a 1983 series 3 long wheelbase Hi-Capacity land rover how much do you think this would sell for when complete. This will give me a rough idea of the kind of money I will be able to spend withought loosing money When I sell her.

to be honest when you rebuild a landi you do it out of love not for the money you can get back,i never pay more than 2000 for s 3 ever no mater what they have had done

if its profit you are after from a landy then don't put the bloody thing back together, sell the bits, once you have spent your life savings rebuilding it, you will be thousands of pounds in debt ;)

I am rebuilding a landy not for profit but I just wanted to know the kind of price I could get for it. This will help me to budget my build accordingly to that I don't loose vast ammounts of money

as soon as you start to rebuild, the price far out weighs the amount you will get back as long wheel base landis fetch far less than short wheel base landis. i am all ready at a loss as i have put parabolic springs on new loom knl filtters new carb taken out the oil bath filter new brake lines new shocks tyres and wheels, spent some where in the region off 2000 maybe more bought it for 1500,the guy wanted 2500 for it but like i said they aint worth much more than 2000, it comes down to love or madness (and i know witch my wife thinks) but hey why in your right mind would you want a car that is about as aerodynamic as a shed uses fuel like your running 3 cars at the same time leaves oil stains on your drive and you have to shout at the person sat next to you to make your self heard (you might get 2000 to 2500 if your a good sales man but i would say 1500 to 1800 is a fair price.

that's a bit uncalled for old bean, i was lead to beleive your wife was a very nice lady ;)

Totally agree with Simon - had I bought a 90 2 years ago instead of getting non runner Series 3 on road I would be less poor! You do it for the kick you get when tootling around - what price a smile?(I could actually quantify it but it's best to leave some things hidden from she who must be obeyed.
