Hi all,

I'm about to replace all the wiring in my '83 diesel 109 truck and have come across several different looms available. I'm not sure which one [if any] is the right one, as electrics are not my strong point!

For example, there is a July 1980 - January 1983 harness [PRC2533], and a February 1983 - November 1983 harness [PRC2572]. I can't find any differences on the seller's websites, and the diagrams in the manual don't show either of these looms

If it's any help, my Series 3 has all the usual dashboard, plus a purple low fuel level [?] light to the right of the temp/fuel gauge cluster, and a reversing light and fog light on an extra panel in the centre of the dash. There was some sort of beacon on the roof, and spot lights on the bumper. Also a fairly bodged hazard light switch on the centre panel which caught fire when I tested it.
Here are some photos:

Just to add more confusion, I also have a spare petrol SIII loom which may or may not work! I'm hoping to use the spare platic housing as the original is cracked, and make one good instrument panel out of both if that's possible 🙃. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Who is selling them just bought a loom for a 59 S2 from Craddock but a lot of the wire colours dont match the Haynes wiring diagram...

Is this the low fuel warning light you mention? I have this on mine but it has never worked so i did not know what it was for? i did look at fuel light with it but the sender I have doe snot have a low level warning light and there is now wiring (although may not be original) at the sender that is not connected.

Yep, that's what I think it is at least. On my spare instrument panel it's blanked off with a bit of plastic. This one doesn't work either as the bulb has probably blown.

may help

Thanks, that dashboard diagram is very useful! I take it the low fuel light has a positive to the fuel sender and an earth somewhere? Also the heater plug light has the same wires as the choke light?
Hopefully I should be able to make one good panel out of two knackered ones 🤔

diagram shows fuel level warning light assuming you tank sender unit has the three connections

Another question - is there any supplier of SIII wiring harness I should look out for? Either one worth buying or one to avoid.
