Hey there everyone,

Posting after a long time as i am faced with a bloody pain of an issue. I have a 1982 Range Rover 4 door and cannot get the main beam and hazards to work. The indicators work fine and i can flash the high beams. However i cannot use the main beams and as said operate the hazard unit and the horn as well. The column switch (horn, indicators etc.) has already been replaced but to no avail. The headlamp switch PRC2957 has not been replaced as of yet but i would like some feedback before purchasing any more parts. There is no relay for the headlights too.

I am thinking, rather belatedly honestly, about the headlight bulbs. But as far as i am aware its one bulb for both high and main beams and also there are not many chances both went out together. The hazards cannot be faulty because of a light bulb i think too.

Let me know what you think about this and what i should do next.

Thanks ! :)

Rather embarrassingly for me, the issue has been almost completely resolved. The brown permanent live feed to the column stalk that the indicators and lights operate from had been disconnected for some reason. The same goes for the hazard unit. Go figure.

The only thing that's not working still is the horn. I shall find out why and report back !

Refreshing to read a Classic thread for a change, especially one about a resolved issue .. virtually every post these days is about the late models with just the occasional P38 enquiry.

RRC's seem to be a forgotten breed, but in years to come so will the newer stuff & they will be a dim memory a lot sooner than the real ones were, as marketing has long since taken over from engineering

None of the new stuff will still be running in 20 years time, the electronics will be obsolete and unrepairable.
