Quick question....lady here has one on ebay listed as a 2wd? did they make any this way? She also says that it is ex-mil from Britian, but it is LHD so maybe I could get a deal on it:D

I was going to, but there are some people on here who might send her a note and let her know I am trying to steal it from her:D Thats what I would do anyway....

I think the RAF did have some that were 2wd. I'm sure sombody who knows what they're talking about will be along in a short while.;)

yes they were made. ive only ever seen one.
cant remember if it was for the raf or summat though.
the raf thing does seem to have some credance.

I haven't found anything on the web about two wheel drives, but it sure looks like it is in the picture. If the RAF had 2wd why is it LHD? It must be something special...too bad there is no paperwork for it.

gotta feelin they were made for towing bomb trolleys / bowsers / generators etc out to the aircraft. needed the towing ability but not 4wd and better manouverability. 2wd front axel had better steering lock.

just an idea dredged from the back of me mind.

yes they did make 2 wheel drive landrovers , but as far as i know they were all series 1 and quite rare now , i think they were made for the royal navy as officer transport and were used on naval bases . never heard of any other series being 2 wheel drive .

I think she is right about the ex-mil thing because of the blackout lights and radio brackets, but I don't think it is English ex-mil....maybe German??

Seriously... this is probably the only bit of the description you need to look at:

"could use full restoration"

That's going to cost you ;)

If you're after any land rover - there's a nice looking RRC here for a lot less money ;)

eBay Motors: Land Rover : Range Rover (item 270095910324 end time Mar-10-07 20:44:51 PST)
I can buy those here for a dime a dozen....I want a real landy:D
Also foreign cars have to be 25 years old to be imported without making them meet our epa standards

oh it's deffo ex mil but it could be dutch , i'm not sure the germans used landrover ,cos we won the war don't yer know !!!!

If it is a conversion it is a damn fine job. I have seen septic style conversions on jeeps and you can always tell by the hole in the right side of the firewall:D I checked if we used 2wd land rovers and we do have some in our diplomatic service, would explain the LHD and why it is here now. Service members get free import of their vehicles state side. She may also have the model wrong; how do you tell a series 1 from 2 and 2a?

you'd know a series 1 if you saw one they are a lot different from other series . it looks like a series 3 to me , dash board , wing vent , plastic grill blah blah blah . sounds like it could be one of them diplomatic thingys , that would explain it but i cant help with them cos i'v never heard of emm .
