Was in last Octobers LR monthly not many around
Phew, that's a bit steep. I think I'll make do with my dumper truck for the time being. One thing I saw a picture of many years ago which I have been unable to locate since is a series 1 Land Rover with a backhoe digger on the back. It must have been a one off. But imagine being able to drive a Land Rover and dig at the same time.

There was a restored backhoe Land Rover at one of the Peterborough shows a few years back. As I remember it was an after market conversion. I think they had an article on it in one of the LRO magazines.
EDIT: I can't remember if it was definitely a S1.

Ah, so I didn't just dream it. It was a fairly small backhoe, of the kind you'd see on a mini tractor. There wouldn't be much call for such things nowadays, when mini diggers are all over the place, but at the time when the alternative was to dig holes by hand, it might have been worth doing.
