Hello Freelander friends!

I'm new here so many thanks first on everybody who make this forum existing!

My question:

I am just wondering ,if the 18' "Sport" wheels which i have seen only on a Facelift Models will do fit on the previous ones...?Can someone tell me that?I have a 2001 TD4 5 door model and would like to buy for the summer such wheels.

I have checked some Freelander galaries on internet ,but there is no vehicle(pre facelift) with 18's Sport on.

Thanks in advance!

I seem to recall that it's not a good idea to put 2001 and newer wheels on the older pre 2001 models (they fit but can cause hub problems). If yours has the vented discs (which I imagine it has) then should be no problem - however brace yourself for replacement tyre costs!

other way round. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/freelander-td4-2003-snapping-wheel-studs-46107.html

newer on older, not older on newer. basicly, older ones dont fit on newer hubs (well they look like they do) and snap studs, and also wont turn on the front hubs as they hit the brake caliper

Ah thanks for the clarification UC -knew there could be issues - didn't know which way around. But it sounds like should be ok for OP as the 18in wheels are 2003/4 onwards so should be fine for a 2001 model?

Out of curiosity, my facelift has the 5 spoke 16" Freedom wheels which I've seen on both the facelifts and the pre-facelifts. Does that mean there is two versions of this wheel?

Yes. Pre-2000 and post-2000. The latter will fit pre-2000 Freelander, but the pre-2000 wheels won't fit post-2000 Freelanders, without spacers.

Is worth to buy a set of OEM 18 inch wheels ?? .....I have a set of Freedom 16 inch with AT tire but is very noisy on road at high speed .
And i want to be more wider than 215.....So i think will be happy with a 18 inch wheels and some 245 50 18 tire.
the 16'' with AT will keep for winter an for offroad.
What you guys think ???
thanks

You'll struggle to get 245 section tyres on without clearance problems with the strut.
18" rims are a good choice for high performance road use. I'd run 235/55/18 tyres if I had 18s. I prefer a larger wheel, so run 225/60/17 with AT tyres. These give a good compromise between handling and all terrain ability.

What inspired me was Callaway model which run 255 45 18,but i not go that much.
i know but is not the only problem, the stock wheels is 18 x 7j,i searching for dimension of tire with 7 inch wide wheels and maximum dimension is 235 but the optimum will be 225 .And that's why I asked how wide they are, were more permissive 18 x7.5j or the best fit 18 x8 j.
i am pretty stuck right now .....

The higher the profile, the less rim fussy it is.
I'd have no problems running 235/55/18 on the factory Sport rims. This would give you plenty of grip and nice road manors.
