I know that there are a lot of threads talking about this. but it is nice to get a personal reply, also the main insures that keep cropping up such as adrian flux, which says it would be £8500!!!! to insure me on a defender 110. and also NFU wont even insure me, so is there any that will insure me on a decent amount, on a Defender 110 or a discovery series 1.

please get back to me, aiming to pass my test in the next few weeks,
cheers
Scott. :)

Try lancaster insurance .. they were the best for me an a few of my mates. remember it isdriven only 3000 miles a year. good luck

I am 18 now but had my 300tdi 90 when I was 17 and got insured as a second with my dad as a main from Aviva for £1300 which was really good and equalled quotes me friends got for 1.2 corsas and the like. I just had my renewal for £2300 which is like a 77% increase. I am looking for new insurers now aswell and have found these guys Cheap Car Insurance, Home Insurance, Motorbike Insurance, Travel Insurance | Insure
will insure me fully comp on my own for £2500 which is better value than being a second so may be worth a try for you. Lancaster, NFU wont insure me neither will Adrian flux just because of my age. I say try Aviva aswell but they have cancelled there young drivers discount which is how I had such a cheap year last time. I would also say dont get a 110, you will hit something most likely and it makes a mess. I practically wrote a bus off last summer

Try ringing these guys

lancaster insured my 90 fully comp 400...my mate has his110 insured with lancaster for 450 were both 23.

Aviva says £11,850!!!! screw that for a first car insurance, and Lancaster says you have to be 21 and over for a Land rover insurance
 :mad2:

cost me £750 to insure a disco 1 the year before last at 18/19, up to 1200 now but I'm the policy holder this time and its a slightly newer disco but should be back down next year hopefully

Yeah I was 18 when I was insured with them……had a polo for my first car then moved to a disco

oh fair enough, who was you insured with your polo and how much? because my cousin same age as me has a polo and has just turned 17

churchill did it for £1700…..

didn't use it for long only a few months then scrapped it and was carless for about 6 months

What are you after, 200 or 300tdi? How much do you want to spend on your insurance anyway. My new quotes including mods I want to purchase after it passes MOT will cost me £3000. Thats for a 300tdi 1997 with 10,000 miles valued to £12,000 and mods for non standard paintwork, galvanized chassis, bull bar and tow bar, roof rack, alloy wheels , rally lights, front fog lights and interior. I have 1 years NCB no pass plus though and I havent had a discount for joining a LR club. I have noticed though that my post code has been the biggest influence after age. I am in Birmingham at the moment but I checked how much it is if I live in Northamptonshire which is where I am moving to in April and it brings it down by £600.

I would also suggest just using the money super market compare site. Going direct to all these so called young driver and 4 x 4 specialists just wasted time as I was either too young or they quoted higher than £4000

First Central just gave me an amazing quote for £2250 with out any mods. Should check them out if you buy a standard landy they may be able to sort you out.

Hi folks,

I am a 49 year old retired police officer with a family car and 20+ years no claims discount. My son is 21 with his own car and three years no claims discount. I have also had classic car policies for a number of years. I have got rid of the classic and I am now looking for insurance for a 1987 Landrover 90 on a limited mileage policy.

I have tried the following three companies (recommended on this site) who have all said they will not insure anyone under 25 on a Landrover. When I said people on Landyzone under that age claimed to have insurance with them they all said the individuals concerned were "liars".

The companies concerned are Lancaster Insurance, Adrian Flux and Sureterm Direct.

Can anyone advise me of an insurance company who would be willing to insure my vehicle for myself and my son and does anyone have a response to the companies who say they are liars?

Just drive without insurance. Even if he gets stopped by plod 4 or 5 times it'll still be cheaper than insurance.

an whos goin stop a landy ... just keep driving with no insurance

quick point.insurance believe it or not is not obliged by law it is required by a statued rule of society. not a law a rule.
