There are some other numbers above the main one where I would expect to find the compression ratio, one of which appears to be a 5.
What are the rest of them?

Just for info, December issue of Land Rover Monthly has, by coincidence, a huge thing in " The Norfolk Garage" on tuning and maintaining the V8 engine, and there is another article on doing the timing.
They both support what has been posted on here and the last article even covers doing "plug cuts" which I think I mentioned
But it is nice to have it on paper with pics.. :):):)

Wtf is vbh? Very big hand?
The classic is getting a full service don't to it, filters, plugs, oil, the lot. I've managed to find a mixture tool also but te owner wants to get so many parts now and so many parts later. So the mixture tool will have to wait for the next installment. Thank you all for the Info.
You probably already know this...RH carb supplys 2,3,5,8 and LH 1,4,6,7...handy to know if you check plugs which carb is at fault...
The primary carb rh is running lean and the secondary lh is running a little rich. When looking Into the engine bay from the front.

My post was as sitting in vehicle...so plugs 2,3,5,8 should be a little sooty...I have a misfire today again used a spray bottle of water to squirt manifold numbers 3 and 5 not hot so carb RH carb giving problem as spark good...
Edit... but 2 and 8 hot...will look tomorrow

Got you, it's the other way around then. ;)
