No money to justify the new tyres.....

These will do me just fine - will be a lot easier to drive to, since I will be able to wind in the bump stops to get some steering back.

Flexi arches should land in a day or so too - so got myself a bit of work to do as want to get the tyres switched at the weekend.

I was told that normal alloys are around +30 ish offset and normal modulars are 0 offset, so with the -35 offset should get around 60mm, so will stick out too much on existing setup, and plod may not like that :rolleyes:
 
Mine are -32 but they're 10" wide I think or possibly 12" wide and 15" diameter



They stay under the arches on the series for now but once my axle jig is finished I'm extending new axle I've been given out by 3-4 inches so I get some serious track width. Brings me out the D3 track width :)
 
Yeah, that's a point, as these are 8" wide ones, and I think my alloys are 7", might only get 40mm ish - but that's still a damn sight improvement to what I have got - and no spacers in sight ;)
 
No I don't have spacers on mine either ;) its just really wide :p


But as the series is being lifted 3" as well I need the extra width to increase the stability back up to a good level :D means I have to extend the half shafts though.....cut on the power saw, slot over some tube with notches and holes drilled and a centre piece of solid EN19 welded in at the right length, butt up the ends of the tube to the old shaft and weld down the notches to get the solids back together then seam weld ends, drill through the guide holes in the tube into the solid shaft and plug weld all of them!


Time consuming but makes them strong again
 
I'm waiting for the new axle to arrive and for the new 7L V8 to get dropped in :D



Removing the Rover V8 tomorrow and then I'm half tempted to drop the 7L in on thursday ;) but I've not decided if I want to move the engine forward another 3" or not so that may just stay put until my gearbox to transfer box adaptor shaft is complete so I know how much space I have to play with!
 
The V8's out of an old Cadillac 480ft/lbs and 340bhp :D plenty of power for a landrover ;)


Everything is now custom though, GM gearbox, flywheel adaptor, bellhousing adaptor, rear mounted radiator, transfer box adaptor so I can use the LT230


Should be fun ;)
