Can anyone throw any light on a drone that only seems to come in at about 1500 rpm. Its not the running gear because its also there when stationary. 100rpm either side its gone:confused2: By the way it a 2.5dhse with 120,000

Sympathetic resonance likely, maybe you have something loose

Thanks. I'll get someone to keep it at 1500 rpm and have a poke about. Nothing obvious there though.

Crankshaft dampers are prone to falling apart on these,also check the electromagnetic clutch on the AC compressor.

Hmm Dmf can do this if its a manual?vibration or bussing noise,rattle etc but 1500rpm is also where the turbo starts to blow properly?

just found this post. i have the same or similar symptoms also (resonance/harshness at 1500rpm) with a dhse. sounds to me like its coming from the exhaust. wondering if the OP has gotten any further with his investigations?

Check the plastic air intake over the cam cover is mounted correctly and the isolation rubbers are in good condition - it made a quite a drone on mine when it had come off its mountings.

On mine the exhaust heat shield next to gearbox.

It's on studs held by round push on clips, I put some repair washers on with a couple of fibre washers and pressed the clips up tight.
